Although we have most years and condition in stock some years are more scarce than others and therefore may not be available, if you require a specific year we suggest that you contact us prior to ordering and we will do our best to supply the coin of your choice. We reserve the right of final choice as to the actual year we supply within the decade of your choice, if prior agreement has not been made.

* We have carried out research which tracks these coins directly back to the salvage operators themselves. All of the Douro coins were sent to Spink & Son in London in 1996 about 75% of the coins were sold at auction in that year, however the remaining 25% were returned to the savage operators. These coins were held in a Swiss bank until last year when they were released to raise funds for new shipwreck exploration projects. Many of the coins display small orange or reddish marks which only come with long exposure to sea water. We are as sure as we possibly can be about the origins of these sovereigns, and will provide a certificate on this basis, however these coins are being sold primarily for there individual numismatic value.

Coins from the 1840's are dated from 1842 to 1849.
Coins from the 1850's are dated from 1850 to 1859
Coins from the 1860's are dated from 1860 to 1869 (No sovereigns struck in 1867)
